.......If this one is serious, he is likely to get some feed-back.
Completely ignores (1) how little information is available to the
public about EMF hazards or the exposures likely from various
equipment and sources -- many of which the "consumer" is totally
unaware of; (2) as in the case of tobacco, the latency period of
many of the illnesses means that you will not know of your exposure
(and its harmful effect) until many years later.....

No, the ESSENTIAL role of the government to INFORM, EDUCATE the public --
as well as engage in some "prudent" regulation -- is clear on this one.
Even the non-believers (about EMF health hazards) seem to be in the
agreement that ONLY the government can "protect" the public once this
hazard is admitted..... EMF is already 'ubiquitous' -- everywhere!!!

I don't know why people are missing the obvious. If you smoke,
you take a risk of a smoking related illness. It says so on the package!
If you don't want to take the risk, simply don't buy their product! It is
NOT the answer to litigate after you decide later that you didn't want to
take responsibility for your own actions after the fact! We don't sue the
forrest when our house made of wood burns down! We don't sue god if we
were born with a genetic defect! I hope you see my point here. There
should have never been a lawsuit as everyone who buys cigarettes knows what
they are in for if they do. They CHOOSE to buy, it isn't forced on them!

And as for EMF, ESD, UVR, LASER, and RF (nonionizing) radiations,
simply DON'T EXPOSE YOURSELF TO THEM! Also, purchase a gauss meter and
use it when shopping for appliances (keeping in mind that certain items
that draw lots of current like power drills are always going to have
strong magnetic fields, so in those cases, simply _limit_ exposure).

Personal safety is the responsibility of the consumer, not the
responsibility of the manfuacturer! Buy cars with airbags, and thick
sidewall and door construction, NOT sue the manufacturer after an accident
because you wanted to save a buck and bought an aluminum pop can car!
Same goes for radiation zones, if they erect a cell tower in your back
yard... move! If they run power lines across your property... MOVE!
It's not the most economical solution, but it is the only _sane_ solution.
If you simply can't afford to move, at least buy chicken wire and erect a
faraday's cage around your house to protect yourself and your family from
the radiations. It may not be pretty, but it's far better than death!

The large fees in the tobacco lawsuit are because lawyers are
greedy. The tobacco lawsuit is for the benefit of the lawyers, the
"victims" are secondary. The sharks saw something to eat, and they feed
upon it. It's the same as the lawyer that chases ambulances. Maybe the
"victim" didn't want to sue, maybe they accepted an accident as their own
responsibility. However after few minutes with a contingency lawyer,
dollar signs appear in the "victims" eyes, and another lawsuit is born,
with the BULK of the money going to the lawyers, PERPETUATING this cycle!

(BTW, I also have a "Radiation Alert Monitor 4" that I bought a few years
before Chernobyl. Even tho the government told us we were safe, I
collected and evaporated rainwater after the event, and the dust remaining
was concentrated and measured 2.5mR/hr. WAY unsafe in my book! I also
went out looking for evidence of food-borne contamination and found it.
Cheese imported from Switzerland was off scale, as I measured it while
still sitting on the grocery store shelf! Of course when I showed the
manager this, they pulled the stock, but the next day they just put it
back out again. Instead of worrying about litigation after the fact, how
about if we just practice CAVEAT EMPTOR, and prevent casualty BEFOREHAND!
Business is not the enemy, IGNORANCE is. Lawyers are not OUR friends...)
